How to cover up Rustoleum Countertop Paint with Giani Granite Countertop Paint

The question of how to paint Giani over other types of countertop paint is becoming more frequent as this countertop category grows.

It is possible to paint Giani over other painted counters if they are sanded or de-glossed. You do not have to sand down to the original countertop, just rough up any type of top coat or epoxy with a fine grit (600 grit) sand paper. Remember to clean off any sanding dust.

Once this is done you can begin the steps of Giani- 1. Roll primer, 2. Sponge minerals, 3. Roll Top coat... and wallah! You will have a new shiny granite finish!

  1. Granite is certainly one of the most preferred sorts of kitchen counter since it is so awesome. It's a remarkably high quality countertop material that would be amazing in the kitchen area considering that it can deal with the abuse of a kitchen counter. If you're looking for a high quality counter-top which looks superb, granite is a reasonable choice for you. Marble may be a great choice too, but it could perhaps be more pricy.

  3. Exactly! The only thing left to do is to maintain the countertop's beauty and quality by frequently cleaning it and putting some accessories to break the monotony! I'll definitely try those steps with my marble countertops.

  4. The surface of the counter top should be smoothed out with no rough edges. This way, there wouldn't be any bumps after painting, and this also allows the granite paint to have a glossy finish. Just be careful when you're applying the paint, to avoid spills.

  5. It looks just like granite! Would you mind sharing a close-up just to be able to see more of the detail on the surface? but it looks beautiful, not to mention how affordable this option is. I wonder if this would be a good option for home owners who are selling their homes..! because I see many are looking for granite countertops just to sell their house, as it is a must... but why invest so much when they probably won't be making as much on the sale with the way the market is these days!

    Anyways, thank you for sharing!

  7. I just finished one of my bathroom countertops with the Giani Granite Kit and I absolutely LOVE it, even if it came out a little textured! I'm getting ready to do another bathroom countertop. I sent Giani a message asking them if a countertop can be sanded again down and the polymer coat be reapply a third time, but I never received an answer. As a matter of fact, I asked them two other questions and I never received an answer for those either. Would anyone here happen to know if the last step can be repeated a third time? TIA -KD

  21. Wait, I don't get it. Why paint counter tops? You can just cover them up when painting the walls so paint doesn't get on them or the cabinets. Also, isn't it better to just pick a counter top you like to begin with? Thanks! Oh, I got in a discussion with somebody for the Vancouver commercial roofing and these are points that was being brought up to me. Smart!
